Remote
Connection Software
In order
to take part in EarlsHelpDesk remote access computer services you will
need acceptable remote connection software installed on your computer.
You may already have software which can be used by EarlsHelpDesk or
you may need to install a form of remote connection software which has
been approved to be used by EarlsHelpDesk for the service you are requesting.
The remote
connection software must allow keyboard and mouse input, and must also
allow for a complete system reboot and reconnect when needed.
There's no
need to pay a fortune. Some of the best remote connection programs available
also have a free version that will work fine. Just be sure to remember
the account and computer information that you use when you sign up.
You will need to share this information with EarlsHelpDesk so it is
recommended that you choose a password and/or computer access code which
you do not otherwise use. Be sure that the main account password is
long enough to provide a good level of security. EarlsHelpDesk recommends
a password which is at least 16 characters long and uses a combination
of both letters and numbers.

Other remote connection programs may be added here once tested for security
and functionality. If you already have a form of remote control software
installed and it is not listed here, we may still be able to use it.

LogMeIn
- If you do not already have remote connection software installed, please
consider using LogMeIn. It has a nice user interface, can overcome most
firewalls easily, and even the free version offers a number of great
features.

Once you
have acceptable remote connection software installed, read over the
Remote Connection Services Agreement.
If you accept the terms of the agreement, simply call to sign up for
remote connection services from EarlsHelpDesk. The phone number is in
the banner at the top
of each page.
If you are
needing per-issue assistance, showmypc.com offers free software which
is suitable for many services including tutoring, general help, and
also as an initial connection for virus or spyware removal. Be sure
you have a help desk technician on the phone with you before running
ShowMyPc.
